SDHS has a vibrant program in theater studies and the dramatic arts, augmented by our excellent theatre group, the Theatrical Knights. Our VAPA elective classes enhance performance and language skills through acting, reading, speaking, listening, writing, and body control. Students observe and evaluate production elements and identify the significance of dramatics in the media and the workplace. Our 4 year program incorporates the rich theatrical landscape on our doorstep in Balboa Park.
Students can also take college-level drama classes with City College, including programs focused on practices and creative processes in the dramatic arts and on understanding politics in theatrical representation and comprehension of theatre as a tool for social change.
