Badminton

One of our most popular sports of campus with one of our most experienced coaches. Badminton is a perennially strong program and an awesome opportunity for both fun and high-level competition.

Baseball             

With a new field on campus, baseball is poised to return to the top of the City Conference. This program has produced multiple professional players and features full varsity and JV squads for new and experienced players alike.

Basketball

Basketball has traditionally been one of the flagship programs downtown, with a history of CIF champions and college-bound players. With experienced coaches spread across multiple levels, basketball is a great opportunity to develop in an elite environment.

Beach Volleyball

The newest sport on campus has also proven to be one of the most fun. The team has the opportunity to play at coastal locations all over San Diego and develop volleyball skills and strength and conditioning unique to this Southern California pastime.

Cheer

The heartbeat of San Diego High athletics is our cheer program, which supports our campus life with tireless enthusiasm. Tryouts are in the spring and interested students should reach out to the cheer program directly for more information.

Cross Country

Our Cross country program has produced two Olympians and nearly-countless league titles. This sport provides a phenomenal opportunity to chase race wins or general fitness for all interested students on campus.

Football (Tackle and Flag)

Flag and tackle football work in concert at San Diego, with two teams competing against historic rivals in some of our fan-favorite events. Friday Night Lights shine bright downtown!

Lacrosse

San Diego is a lacrosse hotbed and San Diego High is no exception. The boys’ team made the CIF postseason in 2023 and the girls’ team have several current college prospects – both programs are set to improve even further with established coaches and cultures.

Soccer

With two CIF Finals appearances in the last two years, San Diego High is unequivocally a soccer school. Both programs have produced Division 1 players and continue to develop some of the very best athletes in the county.

Softball

Even during construction, SDHS softball made a CIF playoff appearance in 2023. With a state-of-the-art facility now complete on campus, complete with iconic views of the San Diego skyline, the program now has a field worthy of the hard-working students who compete for the Cavers.

Swim

The Spring season is full of diverse opportunities for student-athletes, with the Caver swim program offering an accessible opportunity to both learn to swim or build on skills for club-level athletes. With an on-campus coach and a beautiful facility at Memorial Swimming Pool, this team truly has something to offer for every student.

Tennis

Both boys’ and girls’ tennis compete in Division 1. Coach Sand doubles as the PE department chair and has integrated his programs with high-level strength and conditioning opportunities as well as opportunities to play at some of the premier sites in the city.

Track & Field

San Diego High has produced state medalists throughout its history, with a state champion in CeCe James in 2022. The program has slots for more than 100 Cavers and is an amazing option for students looking to improve physical fitness and compete in a sport with an event for every type of athlete.

Volleyball

Wrestling

San Diego High produced one of the great American wrestlers ever in Stephen Neal, and the culture of excellence remains resolute in that program. With the addition of girls’ wrestling in 2023, there has never been a better time to be a Caver wrestler.
