Due to your continual support, our Foundation has been able to offer incredible financial assistance to San Diego High students, facilities and staff! You may be aware of the $94 million budget gap, which our district is trying to close for next school year, and we have been fortunate to be able to continue to fill some of those ‘gaps’ with your donations and support!
We are celebrating our 75 new 2024 recipients and 28 renewable scholarships, which will total approximately $93,000!
Our Program Support extends to a wide range of areas, from clubs and athletics to teacher-initiated projects. Last year alone, we were able to contribute $53,000 to these initiatives, thanks to your generous support. Your donations have truly made a difference in the lives of our students and staff.
Our Athletics support included student physicals, football, baseball, badminton, basketball, wrestling, an audio surround sound system in the gymnasium, and the CheerSquad.
A.S.B. received our support with its ‘Winter Wonderland’, Paper Chase Competition at all grade levels and annual Worlds Faire activities.
We helped to finance the college trips to several California campuses, an exciting student Journalism Convention in San Francisco, and several exchange students from Austria.
Our awesome Wellness Center provided Holiday gift cards to families in need and assisted families and staff during the recent flooding in San Diego.
Choir and Band received financial support and the Science Lab and MedTech ‘Get it done’ Saturday Tutoring Program.
Teacher Appreciation Activities and Lunch, Senior Yearbooks, and ‘Caver Closet’ are where students can ‘shop’ for needed clothing and hygiene.
The SDHS Foundation, Inc. is a tax-deductible I.R.S. 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation and, as such, has financial management over many Class Reunion accounts; S.D. Foundation Investment Accounts; San Diego Women’s Club Scholarships (2); Harold Cranston, Robert Price, and Karen de Laurier Family Scholarship accounts; and Amy Zheng and Vince Quitoriano. In addition, we are proud to be in partnership with the Midway Museum, which sponsors several new and renewable scholarships each year. Due diligence and prudent management of these funds offer the SDHS Foundation, Inc. the ability to maintain consistent support to the students & staff at San Diego High School. Since 1992, we have exceeded $4.7 million in donations, contributions and investment income as a non-profit corporation.
