International Baccalaureate Diploma Pathway
IB Diploma Requirements: To earn the prestigious IB Diploma, students must complete course and exam requirements in six IB subjects. A minimum of 3 exams, and no more than 4 exams, must be HL (Higher Level) exams. The rest will be SL (Standard Level) exams. They will also write an extended essay of independent research on a topic chosen by the student and guided by a faculty mentor; complete creativity, activity, and service activities (CAS); and participate in a critical thinking course called TOK. More information. Students can select classes from this currently recommended pathway at SDHS. Students who do not wish to complete the full IB Diploma Pathway may choose the IB Coursework Pathway and select any combination of the courses available.
